About the Villages Pops Orchestra
Our History
The Villages Pops Orchestra began in 2011 as The Villages Strings Orchestra, a small group of string players. Today, the "Pops" has approximately 65 musicians, some of which were former professionals or former high-school and college performers. As the only All - Villager orchestra, the Pops has grown in popularity as well as membership.

THE MASTERS OF FILM SCORES
The POPS will present an evening dedicated to those amazing soundtrack composers writing specifically for films. Music scored for movies enhances suspense, excitement, tenderness, and humor. These scores evoke emotional responses resulting in a deeper appreciation of epic films, without which, great scripts would be missing the emotional augmentation added by music.

Our Mission
The Villages Pops Orchestra is comprised solely of residents of The Villages in Central Florida. Our vision is to provide high quality music of varied genres to the community. From Broadway scores to the classical repertoire, the Pops presents concerts suited for all audiences.
The Orchestra rehearses every Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Laurel Manor Recreation Center. Preparing for each concert is hard work, however rehearsals are enjoyable, and have been the source of long and meaningful friendships between its members, board and musical director.
